BACON!!!!! (and Brussels Sprouts)

IMG_0222

Hey y’all!! It’s Christmas morning and let me tell you, I’m a solid 5-8 pounds heavier than I was yesterday morning. Because I HAVE BEEN GETTING IT!!!! Food that is. Pervs. I never really get to cook for anyone because I mostly spend my days in either an airplane or hotel. Not to crap on airplane food if I’m so lucky to get that free upgrade – or room service, despite their effing outlandish surcharges!! Anyways – cooking has been happening around these parts.

I love bacon, as does literally every other right minded human being, animal, elf, mermaid or ghost. (Unless you’re a vegetarian, or religious etc etc. In that case….leave this post immediately!!) So i took a rather unpopular side dish and smashed it up with some greasy awesome. So here we go!!

What you’ll need:

1 pound bacon

3 lbs brussels sprouts (halved)

1/4 cup chicken stock

salt

pepper

3 tbsp maple syrup

How to put this happy sprout into action:

Cook the bacon in a pretty large skillet. Once it’s nice and crispy remove it from the pan and blot it out on some paper towels. Keep all dat phat in the pan. and keeping the temperature on high, add in those sprouts – but make sure you put a layer of them flat side down in the grease, and then pile them all on top. You’re gonna want to let them hang out there for a good 8-9 minutes. The goal is to brown them up and get them a bit crispy. SO DON’T MOVE THEM!! Using some tongs flip them around once, add in the chicken stock and continue to cook them for another 10 minutes. You can really cook them until they’re as soft or hard as you want. Chop up that cooled bacon, and dump it back into your sprout party. then drizzle when with the 3 tablespoons of maple syrup. Then put on some elastic waistband pants and go to town!!!
